    Cherry or Apple Bars

    Source of Recipe

    Recipe Introduction

    This sounds yummy!

Linda's Note - My friend at work gave me the recipe below,I didnt have any of the ingredienst so I made apple bars.
All I did was substitute apple pie filling for the cherry filling and added vanilla instead of almond
flavoring. For the glaze I made it from powdered
sugar, vanilla and 1/2 and 1/2.I am thinking this would
also be good with peach filling, almond flavoring
    and a powdered sugar glaze.
    enjoy!
    Linda

    List of Ingredients

    CHOCOLATE DRIZZLED CHERRY BARS

The favorite combination of chocolate and cherry makes these bars very special and delicious.

Preparation time: 30 min Baking time: 42 min
    Yield: 36 bars

    Crumb Mixture Ingredients:

    2 cups all-purpose flour
    2 cups uncooked quick-cooking oats
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1 1/4 cups LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened

    Filling Ingredients:

1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling
    1 teaspoon almond extract

    Glaze Ingredients:

1/2 cup real semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1 tablespoon shortening

    Recipe

Heat oven to 350°F. Combine all crumb mixture ingredients in large bowl. Beat at low speed until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 1/2 cups crumb mixture; press remaining crumb mixture on bottom of 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until edges are very lightly browned.

Meanwhile, stir together all filling ingredients in same bowl. Spread filling over hot, partially baked crust; sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Continue baking for 27 to 32 minutes or until lightly browned.

Melt chocolate chips and shortening in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring often, until smooth (2 to 3 minutes). Drizzle over bars. Cool completely; cut into bars.

    Recipe Tip
Bars can be cut into shapes other than rectangles. Try cutting into diamonds or triangles for gift giving.
