Overnight Crunch Coffee cake

2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar,firmly packed
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and salt.
Cream together butter, sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Spread batter in greased and floured 13x9x2" baking pan.
Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar, walnuts, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and nutmeg; mix well. Sprinkle over batter.
Refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
Bake in 350 F. oven for 45 minutes or until tests done; cut in squares and serve warm.
Makes 16 servings
Sandy's Note: This is an old Farm Journal recipe that I make often. Really easy, and nice to have with breakfast tea or coffee, or for a ladies coffee klatch! Mine is in the oven right now...smells so good!!
