Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast

1 cup ricotta cheese
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
16 (1/3-inch) slices French or Italian bread
2 large eggs
1 cup milk
11/2 tablespoons butter
2 cups sliced strawberries
Strawberry syrup
Powdered sugar for garnish


Recipe




Stir together ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
Spread 8 bread slices with mixture, top with remaining bread, like a sandwich.
In bowl beat eggs and milk.
Add butter to frying pan over medium heat.
Dip bread in egg mixture to saturate.
Fry on each side until golden brown, about 5 minutes for each side.
Place strawberry slices on top.
Pour syrup over sandwich and dust with powdered sugar. Makes 4--8 servings.
