SOUTHERN OKRA PATTIES

Boil about 1 quart tender whole okra pods in 1/2 teaspoon salted water.
Drain well. Mix about 1 cup corn meal and
1/4 cup flour into okra. Stir. Measure 2 cups corn meal and
1/2 cup flour; sift out on cutting board. Cut about 3 pods (hot peppers)
fine into the okra mixture; roll into small flat patties. Fry in skillet in
hot oil. Drain well. Delicious
served with Southern spoonbread and purple hull or crowder peas.
