Recipe Introduction
Here is an overnight starter for those of you that don't keep starters. You can
use it for most sourdough recipes. The taste is not as 'sour' or exactly the
same as it would be if you had an established starter, but it does work.
List of Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine and mix well:
1 cup water
1 cup bread flour
1/4 tsp sugar
2 tsp yeast
Recipe
Cover with plastic wrap and let sit in a warm location for 6 to 8 hours, or
overnight.
The next day your starter is ready to use. This can be used in your bread
machine as well when a sourdough starter is called for.
****Hint: 3/4 c. sourdough starter really equals 1 package of yeast in most
recipes.
You will find that many recipes use a starter plus a package of yeast. Just
really depends on how strong your actual starter is. You end up with a great
taste when you use both yeast and sourdough starter in a recipe.
