Traditional Meat Loaf
List of Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
¼ pound ground lean pork
¼ ground veal
1 cup dry bread crumbs or cubes and
1 ¼ cups milk or 3 medium slices white bread, torn into peices, and 1 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
¼ cup mince onion
1 ¼ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. each: peppr, celery salt, garlic salt, dry mustard and sage
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
Recipe
Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Spread in ungreased loaf pan, 9x5x3 inches. Bake in 350º oven 1 ½ hours. serves 6
VARIATIONS:
Barbequed Meat Loaf: Spread ½ cup barbeque sauce over Meat Loaf or Beef Loaf(below) just before baking.
Beef Loaf: Increase ground beef to 1 ½ pounds; omit ground pork, ground veal, celery salt, garlic salt, dry mustard and sage and add 1 tbsp. horseradish and 1 tbsp. ketchup.
Turned-out Meat Loaf: Line loaf pan, 9x5x3 inches with waxed papaer; pat meat mixture for Meat Loaf or Beef Loaf firmly into pan. Unmoald loaf in ungreased baking dish, 10x6x1 ½ inches; bake 1 hour 15 minutes.
