base:
½ cup butter, melted
¼ cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
topping:
1 cup maple syrup, at room
temperature
2 eggs, beaten
¼ tsp salt
¼ cup butter, melted
1 cup pecans or walnuts
½ tsp vanilla
2 tbsp flour
Recipe
To make the base, preheat the oven to 350°. Mix together the melted butter, brown sugar and flour and press into a small cake pan (10x10 or 8x11).
Bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside. Set oven temperature to 400°.
To make the topping, add the beaten eggs to the maple syrup, stirring constantly. Add remaining topping ingredients and mix well. Spread over the base.
Bake for 5 minutes at 400°. Reduce the temperature to 350° and bake an additional 30 minutes, or until set.
