List of Ingredients
- 1 POUND GROUND BEEF
- 1/4 CUP FINELY CHOPPED SWEET GREEN PEPPER
- 1/2 TEASPOON OREGANO
- 1/4 TEASPOON GARLIC SALT
- 1/2 CUP TOMATO PASTE
- 1 (6 0Z) CAN TOMATO PASTE
- 1 (8 OZ) CAN TOMATO SAUCE
- 1/4 TEASPOON BASIL
- 1/4 CUP PARMESAN CHEESE
- 1/4 CUP CHEDDER CHEESE
- 1 LOAF OF FRENCH OR ITALIAN BREAD...UNSLICED
Instructions
- PRE-HEAT OVEN TO 400 DEGREES
- BROWN BEEF AND ONION IN A SKILLET.
- DRAIN AND RETURN BEEF TO SKILLET
- ADD GREEN PEPPER, TOMATO PASTE, TOMATO SAUCE AND SEASONINGS, MIX WELL.
- SIMMER FOR 10 MINUTES, STIRRING OCCASIONALLY.
- WHILE MEAT MIXTURE IS SIMMERING, PREPARE BREAD.
- CUT BREAD LENGTHWISE ABOUT 1/3 DEPTH OF LOAF.
- REMOVE TOP AND HOLLOW OUT CENTER OF BOTTOM LOAF.
- REMOVE MEAT MIXTURE FROM HEAT AND ADD PARMESAN AND CHEDDER CHEESE, MIX WELL.
- FILL LOAF WITH MEAT MIXTURE AND TOP WITH CHEDDER CHEESE.
- PUT TOP ON LOAF AND WRAP TIGHTLY WITH FOIL.
- BAKE AT 400 DEGREES FOR 6 TO 8 MINUTES.
Final Comments
IF YOU LIKE, YOU CAN USE HOGIE OR FRENCH ROLLS IN PLACE OF ONE WHOLE LOAF.
