Oven Barbecued Spareribs

- 1 side of pork spareribs (3-4 lb.), uncut
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup catsup
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tbs. Worchestershire sauce
Instructions
- Trim and discard excess fat
- Arange ribe in a single layer in a shallow broiler pan
- Place lemon and onion slices evenly over meat
- Pour in 1/2 cup of water
- Cover with foil and bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour
- Meanwhile in a small sauce pan over medium heat, combine catsup, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, chili powder, salt, paprika, Worchestershire and remaining 1/2 cup of water
- Cook until sauce thickens slightly, about 10 minutes
- Remove ribs from pan, discard lemon and onions
- Cut ribs into serving sizes
- Discard pan drippings
- Return ribs to pan and brush with about 1/3 of the barbecue sauce
- Return ribs to oven and continue baking, uncovered, brushing often with the remaining barbecue sauce for about 45 minutes more or until meat is tender
