    1 c. corn meal
    1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 Tbsp. solid shortening
    2 Tbsp. grated or finely chopped onion (2 to 3)
    1 can beer

    Recipe



    Mix all ingredients until shortening is well mixed. Add beer to mixture until texture can be spooned into deep fryer and form a ball. Fry at 375 degrees for 4 to 5 minutes or until golden brown. Hush puppies will float to top of deep fryer when done. Light and delicious. Can be served with many dishes other than seafood.
