    Recipe Introduction


    "Make this with raisin bread, brioche, challah, Hawaiian bread or any firm white bread. With the optional topping, it is lavish enough for overnight guests or Sunday brunch."

    List of Ingredients




    4-1" thick slices raisin bread or white bread
    4 eggs
    1 1/3 cups milk or half and half
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
    1/4-teaspoon nutmeg
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1/2-teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon grated orange rind, optional butter, for buttering the liner pan
    1-cup maple syrup
    1/4-cup butter or margarine
    Fruit and Nut Topping:
    1 can any fruit pie filling, heated
    1 cup walnut halves and pieces

    Cut bread slices in half diagonally. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and salt. Dip each bread slice in mixture to saturate both sides. Lightly butter the liner pan. Arrange slices in a single layer in the pan. InfraCook on HI for 10 minutes. Turn and InfraCook 6 minutes more, or until browned and puffy. While toast bakes, combine syrup and butter and heat until syrup is hot and the butter melts. To serve, place 2 halves on each plate. Top with warm syrup-butter mixture. Fruit-nut topping: top each serving with syrup-butter mixture, add a spoonful of warm pie filling and sprinkle with pecans.
    Yield: 4 servings
