    3/4 cup ketchup
    3/4 cup chili sauce, such as Heinz
    6 tablespoons apple jelly
    3 tablespoons cider vinegar
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    1 tablespoon molasses
    1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
    1 to 2 tsp tabasco sauce
    1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
    1/2 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes
    1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

    Combine the ketchup, chili sauce, apple jelly, vineagr, brown sugar, molasses, worcestershire, tabasco, liquid smoke, hot red pepper flakes and black pepper with 1/2 cup of water in a large heavy nonreactive saucepan and whisk to mix. Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium high heat. REduce the heat to medium low and let the sauce simmer gently until thick and richly flavored, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    If not servintg the sauce immediatley, let cool to room temperature. Transfer to a clean glass jar and refrigerate until serving; the sauce will keep for several weeks. bring to room temp. before using. Makes about 2 cups.
