    1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
    2 teaspoons cinnamon
    1 1/2 cups flour
    1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    1/3 cup butter or margarine
    1 egg
    1/2 cup milk
    3 ounces cream cheese, cubed into 12 pieces
    1/2 cup butter, melted

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 350ºF Lightly grease muffin pans. Combine 1 cup sugar and cinnamon; set aside. In small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. In another bowl, beat together butter, remaining 1/2 c. sugar and the egg. Add flour mixture alternately with milk; stir until combined. Use 1/2 of the batter, filling each cup 1/3 full. Top each with a cube of cream cheese; top each cup with remaining batter. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden on top. Remove from pan immediately. Roll in melted butter, then sugar-cinnamon mix; cover entire muffin. Makes 12 medium muffins.
