    1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
    1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup maple syrup
    2 eggs, lightly beaten
    2 cups self-rising flour
    3/4 cup milk
    1/2 finely chopped walnuts
    1/2 cup chopped dates

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 375°F.  Line 12 muffins cups with paper liners. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.  Add maple syrup and eggs; beat until well blended.  Add flour alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.  Gently fold in walnuts and dates.  Spoon into  muffin cups. Bake for 20 minutes or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean.  Remove from muffins cups; serve warm or cold.
