    Monster Feasting: Plague Pasta & Pesto

    List of Ingredients




    * 3 eggs
    * 1/2 teaspoon salt
    * 1 3/4 cups spinach pasta flour (You can find spinach pasta flour in many grocery, gourmet, or health food stores)
    * Plague Pesto or your favorite spaghetti sauce (see recipe below)

    Recipe



    1. Ask for a Parent Wizard's help.
    2. Beat the eggs in the mixing bowl with a fork.
    3. Add the salt. Mix well.
    4. Add the pasta flour, one handful at a time. Mix well each time.
    5. Knead the dough for 5 minutes.
    6. Wrap the dough in waxed paper. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
    7. Flour a clean surface and roll the dough out as thin as you can with the rolling pin.
    8. With your Parent Wizard's help, press the side of the ruler into the dough. Make long, thin noodles about a 1/2 inch wide.
    9. Use a sharp knife to cut the long, thin noodles.
    10. Add water to the cauldron and bring the water to a rolling boil.
    11. Add the noodles and cook for 2 minutes.
    12. Strain out the water, then serve with the Plague Pesto or your favorite spaghetti sauce.
    13. Enjoy your Plague feast!

    PESTO:
    * 2 cups fresh basil leaves
    * 1/3 cup pine nuts or sunflower seeds
    * 2 cloves garlic
    * 1 cup extra-virgin olive oil
    * 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
    * salt
    * fresh ground pepper
    * 1/4 red pepper or yellow pepper
    * Plague Pasta or one box spaghetti, cooked according to the package directions.

    Mixing the Concoction:
    1. Wash and pat dry the basil leaves.
    2. Smash the garlic cloves.
    3. Ask for a Parent Wizard's help.
    4. Seed the red or yellow pepper and dice into small pieces.
    5. Put the basil, nuts, and garlic into the blender. Whir until the leaves are all chopped up.
    6. Drizzle in the oil and blend until smooth. You may need to stop the machine and scrape the sides with the spatula several times. Blend again.
    7. Add the cheese. Stir.
    8. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir.
    9. Scoop out the Plague Pesto into the serving bowl. Add the diced red or yellow pepper. Stir.
    10. Add the cooked and drained Plague Pasta. Toss to cover the pasta with the Plague Pesto.
    11. Enjoy your Plague feast!
