Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9"x13" baking pan with foil, and grease the foil..

    Crust:
In a food processor or bowl, combine
    1 1/2 cups flour
    1/2 cup light brown sugar..
Pulse briefly or stir to mix. Add 1/2 cup cold, unsalted butter , cut into 8 pieces. Process or mix until crumbly. Pat evenly onto the bottom of prepared pan. Bake for 12 minutes. Transfer pan to rack. Lleave oven on at 350 degrees

    Topping:

In a saucepan heat 6 Tab unsalted butter over low heat until it melts and bubbles. Add
    1 cup dark brown sugar
    3 Tab honey
    3 Tab heavy cream
    2 Tab. maple syrup

Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Let boil 1 minute without stirring. Pour over hot crust. Sprinkle with 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts

Return pan to oven. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes; caramel layer will be bubbly. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. Let chips melt a minute or so, then swirl with a spatula.. Let cool completely.

Invert baking sheet onto a wire rack, lift off pan, and peel off foil. Invert onto cutting board so that chocolate is facing up. Cut into 2x1 1/2" bars. Store between sheets of waxed paper in an airtight container for up to a week. They do freeze well. Makes 32 bars..
