Honey: Mayonnaise Honey Cake

List of Ingredients

1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup chopped dates
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup honey
1 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans

HONEY NUT TOPPING:
1/3 cup honey
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon


Recipe

Pour boiling water over dates. Stir in soda and let stand. Mix together sugar, honey, mayonnaise and vanilla in large bowl. Add warm date mixture. Sift in dry ingredients all at once. Beat well. Add nuts and stir. Pour into a greased 9x13-inch pan and bake at 350ºF for 35 minutes. Topping: Mix all ingredients together and spread over hot cake.
