    Peach: Peach Cake with Warm Vanilla Sauce

    List of Ingredients

    2 cups flour
    1 1/4 cups sugar
    1 1/4 cups sliced peaches
    2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/3 cup shortening
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 cup milk
    1 large egg
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 tablespoon cornstarch
    1 cup boiling water
    2 tablespoons butter
    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Recipe

    CAKE: Put sugared peaches on bottom of greased sheet cake pan. Mix other ingredients (baking powder through egg) and pour over peaches. Bake at 350ºF for 45 minutes. VANILLA SAUCE (optional): Mix sugar and cornstarch in small sauce pan. Add boiling water and boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, butter, nutmeg and salt. Serve warm over cake.
