    pralines: Mom's Creamy Pralines

    1 cup sugar
    1/2 cup boiling water
    2-1/2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup evaporated milk
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 stick real butter
    3 cups pecan halves

    Recipe



    In a small, heavy saucepan, melt 1 cup of sugar. When completely melted add 1/2 cup boiling water and melt the ball that results.

    Meanwhile in a large saucepan, put 2 1/2 cups sugar, evaporated milk, salt, butter. Stir until mixture is dissolved and comes to a full boil. Add melted sugar and 3 cups of pecan halves. Stir. Cook until it forms a soft ball. Remove from heat. Let sit 5 minutes. Beat until the pralines loose its shine. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let cool. Store in airtight container.
