    Chocolate Chip: Buny's Chocolate Fix Cookies *

    Recipe Introduction

    I messed with the recipe on the bag of Ghiradelli chocolate chips until I found a cookie that some people have said has almost too much chocolate.. that hasn't stopped them from eating them one after another though...

    List of Ingredients

    2 bags Ghirardelli brand double chocolate chocolate chips (made from dark chocolate)
    1 bag Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips
    (see note below about brand...)

    4 1/2 cups flour
    2 teaspoons baking soda
    1 teaspoon salt
    4 sticks butter, room temp
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
    4 eggs
    4 teaspoons vanilla
    1 cup chopped walnuts


    Recipe

    * recipe makes double batch - can halve if desired. Heat oven to 375ºF. Stir flour with baking soda and salt; set aside. In large mixer bowl, cream butter with sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. Gradually blend dry mixture into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts and chocolate. Drop by tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375ºF for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 6 dozen.

    Variation: to make these even more chocolatey, melt 6 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate and let cool. Stir this into the dough before you add in the chocolate chips. These bake for exactly 10 minutes and seem to come out perfect.

    Note: if Ghiradelli chips are not available, I have often simply substituted 2 (12 oz size) bags of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 bag of milk chocolate chips, whatever brand is handy. These are also good with white chocolate chips or butterscotch or peanut butter chips substituted in. They freeze well.
