    Sugar: Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

    Amish Country Cookbook Vol III

    List of Ingredients

    4 cups flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    1/2 cup butter
    1/2 cup shortening
    8 ounces cream cheese, softened
    1 1/3 cups sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla

    Recipe

    Combine flour, baking soda, salt and nutmeg; set aside. Cream together butter and shortening. Add cream cheese and sugar, beat until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Divide dough in half. Cover and chill for 1-2 hours. On lightly floured surface, roll dough 1/8" thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375ºF for 8-10 minutes. Cool and frost.
