    1/2 cup butter (no substitutes)
    1/2 cup shortening
    1 cup sugar
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1 egg
    2 cups sifted flour
    2 teaspoons baking soda
    2 teaspoons cream of tartar
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Recipe



    Cream the butter, shortening, sugars and egg. Add sifted dry ingredients and the vanilla, mixing well. Roll dough into small balls and roll in granulated sugar. Bake on a greased cookie sheet for 12-15 minutes at 375ºF, or 8-10 minutes if your oven runs hot. Cool on rack.
