    Sugar: Mom's Sugar Cookies

    1/2 stick crisco shortening
    1 stick real butter
    1-1/2 cups sugar
    3 eggs
    1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    3-1/2 cups all purpose flour, sifted
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1-1/4 teaspoon salt

    Recipe



    Mix shortening, butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla in mixing bowl of mixer. Mix thoroughly. Stir in sifted dry ingredients and mix well. Divide dough into about 6 to 8 equal parts. Wrap each part of dough in waxed paper and put in the freezer overnight.

    When you are ready to bake the cookies, Take out 1 packet of dough at a time. Roll out dough on lightly floured work surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with floured Christmas cookie cutters. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle the cookies with whatever decorative sugar sprinkles you desire. Bake at 375ºF for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on wire racks. Store in airtight containers.
