    Sugar: Oregon Chai Sugar Cookies

    Source of Recipe

    Emily Skinner, posted to recipecircus (am sorry, but I forgot to note by whom)

    List of Ingredients

    * 1 cup soft butter
    * 1 cup sugar
    * 1 egg
    * 1 Tbsp Chai
    * 1/2 cup oat bran flour (I used another 1/2 cup regular flour)
    * 2 cups flour
    * 1 tsp baking powder

    -- Frosting --
    * 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
    * 1/3 cup soft butter
    * 2 Tbsp Chai

    Recipe

    1. In large bowl, combine butter, sugar, egg, and Chai. Beat until creamy. Add flour and baking powder and beat until well blended. Divide dough into two pieces; cover and refrigerate until firm (2 to 3 hours or overnight). Or, divide dough into two pieces and form into two long rolls (about 2 inches in diameter, or a little less), and chill.

    2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. On a lightly floured board, roll out dough to 1/4-inch thick. Cut with cookie cutter. Or, if using long rolls, slice dough 1/4-inch thick. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 6 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely.

    3. To make frosting: Blend sugar, butter, and Chai. Beat, adding more Chai to reach desired consistency (thick, like a batter, it is easier to drizzle). Drizzle frosting on cooled cookies.
