    1 pound softened unsalted butter
    1/4 cup shortening
    2 cups half and half
    1/2 tablespoon vanilla
    5 pounds powdered sugar

    Recipe



    In 5 qt mixing bowl beat butter and shortening until fluffy and white (takes about 10 minutes); add 2 cups Half&Half and vanilla and mix in slowly. Slowly add powder sugar while beating on slow speed, 1/4 cup at a time until firmness desired. Will take at least 4 1/2 pounds of sugar.
