    Deep Dark Chocolate Pudding

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup sugar
    1/4 cup cornstarch
    or 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    3 cups milk
    3 ounces unsweetened chocolate -- cut up
    4 egg yolks
    1 tablespoon butter or margarine
    1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

    Recipe

    Combine sugar and cornstarch in a medium saucepan. Gradually stir in milk; stir in cut-up chocolate. Cook and stir over medium-high heat till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for 2 minutes more. Remove from heat. Slightly beat egg yolks in a small bowl with a rotary beater or fork. Gradually stir about 1 cup of the hot pudding into yolks. Pour egg yolk mixture into hot pudding in pan. Bring to a gentle boil. Cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat. Stir in butter or margarine and vanilla. Makes 8 servings.
