    1 tablespoon margarine
    1 tablespoon flour
    2 tablespoons carrot diced
    2 tablespoons celery diced
    2 tablespoons onion diced
    1 cup water
    2 tablespoons tomato puree
    1 packet instant beef broth and seasoning mix
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 clove garlic
    1 dash pepper
    1 dash thyme

    Recipe



    In small saucepan, heat margarine over medium heat until bubbly and hot; add flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes. Add carrot, celery and onion and continue to stir and cook until vegetables are lightly browned, about 5 minutes; remove from heat and gradually stir in water. Add remaining ingredients, stirring to combine; return pan to heat and, stirring constantly, bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer, stirring occasionally, for 45 minutes. Let mixture cool slightly, then remove and discard bay leaf; transfer gravy to blender container and process until smooth.

    Makes 4 servings of about 3 tbsp each

    Per serving: 43 cal, 1 g protein, 3 g fat, 4 g carbohydrate, 7 mg calcium, 258 mg sodium, 0 mg cholestrol, dietary fiber 0.7 g.
