Sweet: 2 pt. Per Cup Chocolate Sauce

    Source of Recipe

    From the kitchen ofÊRNBOS2YOU

    List of Ingredients

    3/4 cup very hot water
10 Pringles Fat Free Original Potato Crisps
3 TB Hershey's cocoa (unsweetened powder)
    3 TB fat-free cream cheese
5 individual packets Equal sweetener (aspartame)
    2 tsp vanilla extract

    Recipe

Put all of the ingredients (Pringles, too) into a blender and blend on highest speed until sauce is very, very, very smooth. Pour into a container and let sit for 10-15 minutes to thicken properly. Can be served warm or cool. Can be re-warmed on the stovetop or in the microwave. Either way, DO NOT BOIL. This sauce may thicken a little more over time. If too thick, thin with water. If too thin, add one or two more Pringles fat-free crisps and blend again until very smooth. Refrigerate after using. Keeps about a week in a covered container, refrigerated.

Recipe makes one cup of sauce, and can be doubled if you wish.

Per one 8-oz. cup of sauce:Total calories: 152 Total fat: 1.5 gm Total fiber: 4.5 gm Total WW points: 2

Optional:For mocha flavor, add 1/4 to 1/2 tsp instant coffee powder.
For mint flavor, add a couple drops of peppermint extract.
For orange flavor, add some grated orange peel or orange extract.
Beyond these options, use your endless imagination!

    Original poster's notes:
For really creamy, rich-tasting hot cocoa, stir 3 to 6 tablespoons of this sauce into a cup of skim milk and warm up the mixture. Add a bit more sweetener if you prefer.I've made this recipe with three different artificial sweeteners -- Equal, Sweet N Low, and Splenda -- and tested each one on family and friends. The Equal (aspartame) version was the unanimous winner, so that's the only sweetener I use in this recipe when I make it. Use whichever one suits your own tastebuds, though, and decide for yourself. Vive la dif!

It may be that this sauce would make a reasonable low-point chocolate frosting for cake IF the amount of water is reduced. Haven't tried it yet. As a sauce, though, it's delicious on cake. And as a topping on fat-free ice cream or frozen yogurt, it gives either one a high-fat flavor. Also, you could use this sauce as a fondue-type dip for fruit.
