    "To my basic catsup (ketchup???), I've added the following ingredients: finely chopped onion, minced garlic cloves, finely diced bell pepper and sometimes I've added Italian herbs, jalapenos (finely diced), and have increased the allspice or cinnamon significantly (about 1/2 tsp. each), along with 1 Tbsp. Splenda instead of the 1 tsp. The neat thing is to play with it yourself till you find what you like. Some like it hot; some like it sweet."

    List of Ingredients




    My original recipe:
    6 oz. tomato paste (must say tomatoes only as ingredients)
    1/2 cup vinegar
    1 Tbsp. dried chopped onions (these are larger than the minced)
    Dash of allspice or cinnamon
    1 tsp. Splenda

    Recipe



    Heat vinegar and dried onions in a small pan. Whisk in tomato paste and add spice and Splenda. Heat over low heat till thoroughly mixed. Place in an airtight container and chill. I like a very sweet ketchup, but the sweetener could be omitted and spices such as cayenne pepper, dried red pepper flakes, etc. could be added to spice it up with a little heat.
