Sauce: Fresh Pizza Sauce

List of Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil (or use cooking spray)
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 cup chopped mushroomsÊ
29-oz. can stewed tomatoesÊ
6-oz. can tomato paste (no salt)
2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano1 Ê bay leaf
1/8 teaspoon sugar
1/8 tablespoon hot pepper sauce


Recipe

Heat oiI in a large skillet. Add onions and sautZ 1 minute. Add green pepper and sautZ 3 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook for additional 2 minutes, or until tender.

Add stewed tomatoes, tomato paste, garlic, basil, oregano, bay leaf, sugar and hot pepper sauce. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove the bay leaf prior to spreading sauce on the pizza.
