    Beans: Refried Beans

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 lrg onion.
    4 cloves garlic
    2 cup pinto beans
    7 cup water
    (original recipe included tamari, an off plan ingredient)
        rosemary
        cayenne pepper

    Recipe

    * Saute large onion and garlic together, using your preffered method
    * In crockpot, put beans, sauted onions, garlic, and water, Stir. Add [tamari,] rosemary, cayenne to taste. Stir. Set pot to low for 7-9 h. If there is a lot of excess water as end of cooking, cut back on the water next time.
    * Place entire contest of crockpot into large nonstick skillet(I use my circulon or iron skillet). If beans are not hot, heat them up using meadium heat, stirring constantly. Using either a potato masher or slotted spatula, mash the beans for several minutes. Let the cook, stirring occasionally, until they become a solid mass. You made need to crush a little more if the beans are not properly pulverized.
    * Let cool, store in an airtight container, and use as usual.
