    Recipe Introduction

Beware! These little bites are addictive.. You and your guests will gobble them up! Directions given for the microwave and the oven.

    List of Ingredients

2 (12 oz ea) packages button mushrooms
1 medium onion, minced (about 1 cup)
3 slices white bread (broken into soft crumbs)
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
    1/4 tsp granulated garlic
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp ground black pepper
    2 Tbsp butter
10 slices bacon, fried and crumbled

    Recipe

Fry bacon until crispy. Drain on paper toweling. When cool, crumble into bits and set aside. Lightly rinse the mushrooms. Break the stems from the mushroom caps. Place the mushroom caps on a microwve-safe plate. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you are ready to stuff them or else they will turn slightly brown. Mince the mushroom stems and onion. Heat the butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the mushroom stems and onions and saute about 5 minutes or until the onions are translucent and the mushrooms are giving up juice. Add salt, pepper and garlic and stir to blend. While the mushrooms and onions are cooking, prepare the bread crumbs by using a food processor, blender, or by breaking the bread in small pieces by hand. Turn the heat down to low. Add the bread crumbs, bacon and cheddar cheese to the mushroom mixture. Mix until the cheese melts. As the cheese melts, the ingredients will stick together, forming a ball. Remove the mushroom caps from the refrigerator. Using a teaspoon, stuff the mushroom caps with the filling, mounding the filling fairly high.

Microwave: Microwave the stuffed mushrooms for 3-5 minutes on high, depending on the size of the mushrooms.

Bake In the oven: Bake in a preheated 375F oven for 20-25 minutes. They are ready when the caps are soft and there is quite a bit of juice on the plate.
