    Golden Syrup Steam Pudding

    List of Ingredients




    100 gram softened butter
    100 gram caster sugar
    finely grated zest of one lemon
    2 eggs
    100 gram Self Rising Flour
    100 ml golden syrup



    Grease a 1 litre pudding basin. Cream the butter and sugar. Add the lemon zest. Add the eggs one at a time. Fold in the sifted flour. Pour or squeeze the golden syrup into the pudding basin, swirling it to cover halfway up the sides. Spoon in the pudding mixture. Cover with non-stick baking powder with a generous pleat in the middle. Tie securely with string. Steam 1 hour. Remove and cool slightly before inverting onto serving plate. Serve with cream or custard


    Note: If you like a really sticky pudding, double the amount of golden syrup you swirl around the bowl.
