    BASIC MEATBALLS


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 LB. GROUND BEEF
    • 1/4 CUP ONION; CHOPPED (1 SMALL)
    • 1/4 CUP MILK
    • 1/8 TSP. PEPPER
    • 1 LARGE EGG
    • 1/3 CUP BREAD CRUMBS, DRY
    • 3/4 TSP. SALT
    • 1 TSP. WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE


    Instructions


    1. MIX ALL OF THE INGREDIENTS TOGETHER. SHAPE MIXTURE BY TABLESPOONFULS INTO 1-1/2 INCH BALLS. (FOR EASE IN SHAPING THE MEATBALL, OCCASIONALLY WET YOUR HANDS WITH COLD WATER.)
    2. TO COOK IN A SKILLET: HEAT 1 TBSP. VEGETABLE OIL IN A LARGE SKILLET. COOK THE MEATBALLS OVER MEDIUM HEAT UNTIL BROWN, ABOUT 20 MINUTES.
    3. DRAIN OFF EXCESS FAT.


    4. TO COOK IN THE OVEN: PLACE THE MEATBALLS IN A LIGHTLY GREASED BAKING PAN - 13X9X2 OR15-1/2 X 9-1/2 X 1"; BAKE UNCOVERED IN A 400F OVEN UNTIL LIGHT BROWN, ABOUT 20 MINUTES. DRAIN OFF THE EXCESS FAT.


    Final Comments


    IF YOU WISH, AFTER THE MEATBALLS ARE COOKED, TO ADD FLAVOUR, YOU CAN PUT THE MEATBALLS IN A CROCKPOT AND ADD 1 CAN OF TOMATO SAUCE AND 1 JAR OF GRAPE JELLY AND LET SIMMER ON LOW IN THE CROCKPOT FOR APPROX. 2 HRS.
