    SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN

    THIS RECIPE IS ORIGINALLY FROM ALABAMA AND HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN FOR GENERATIONS.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 whole fryer, cut up
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • salt
    • ground black pepper
    • paprika
    • vegetable oil for frying


    Instructions


    1. Season chicken pieces with salt, pepper and paprika. Roll in flour.

    2. Add 1/2 to 3/4 inch oil to a large, heavy skillet. (Cast iron frying pan is the best!!) Heat oil to approximately 365F. (185C)


    3. Place chicken pieces in hot oil. Cover and fry until golden, turning once.


    4. Drain on paper towels.


    Final Comments


    Makes 4 - 6 servings
