- 1 pound bacon
- 1¾ cups (7 ounces) shredded Gouda cheese
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- ½ (16-ounce) package cocktail rye bread, lightly toasted
- Garnishes: sun-dried tomato slivers, sliced ripe olives, fresh herbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until crisp; remove bacon, and drain on paper towels. Crumble bacon. Combine bacon, cheese, and mayonnaise in a large bowl.
- Spread mixture on rye bread slices. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 7 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly. Garnish, if desired. Serve warm.
Makes 2 dozen.
