    Italian Herb and Cheese Breadsticks

    Source of Recipe

From "Taste of Home Half Homemade"

    Recipe Introduction

"Thanks to the convenience of frozen bread dough, these delectable breadsticks take just minutes to make. Dip the cheesy bites into warm marinara sauce."

    List of Ingredients

â—¦ 1 loaf (1 pound) frozen bread dough, thawed
    â—¦ â…“ cup butter, softened
    â—¦ 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
    â—¦ 1 clove garlic, minced
    â—¦ ¾ cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
â—¦ ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
    â—¦ Marinara sauce, warmed, optional

    Recipe

On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 12-inch square. In a small bowl, mix butter, Italian seasoning and garlic; spread over dough. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and ¼ cup Parmesan cheese over butter mixture. Fold dough in thirds over filling; pinch seams to seal.

Cut crosswise into twenty-four ½-inch-wide strips. Twist each strip two to three times. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise until almost doubled, about 30 minutes.

    Preheat oven to 375° F.
Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese. Bake until golden brown, 20 to 22 minutes. If desired, serve with marinara sauce.

    Makes 2 dozen
