List of Ingredients
- 1 (12-ounce) can root beer
- 1 cup catsup
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 Tbsp white vinegar
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp minced garlic clove
- 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 pounds chicken wings
Instructions
- In the morning, place all ingredients except chicken wings in a large bowl; stir until blended. Add wings, cover, and marinate in refrigerator at least 8 hours.
- Preheat grill. Remove wings from refrigerator. Place remaining marinade in medium saucepan and boil 5 to 10 minutes to desired sauce thickness, stirring occasionally. Divide into 2 portions.
- Grill the wings 15 to 25 minutes, or until the juices run clear when pierced with a fork and the meat reaches internal temperature of 180 degrees; turn and baste with one portion of cooked marinade occasionally. Serve with the other portion (which was not used as a marinade when grilling) of boiled sauce.
Makes 4 servings.
