    Stuffed Mushroom Caps

    From "Gooseberry Patch Classics: Appetizers"

    List of Ingredients


    • 25 mushrooms
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • ¼ cup butter or margarine
    • 1¼ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • One 3-ounce jar bacon bits
    • ¾ cup bread crumbs


    Instructions


    1. Rinse mushrooms and pat dry. Remove stems; set caps aside.

    2. Chop stems finely; sauté stems and onion in butter in a medium skillet. Remove from heat. Stir in the cheese, bacon bits, and bread crumbs, mixing well. Spoon mixture into mushroom caps.

    3. Place on ungreased baking sheets; bake at 350° F for 12 to 15 minutes, or until lightly golden.

      Makes 25
