    Sweet and Sour Meatballs

    From "The Blue Willow Inn: Bible of Southern Cooking"

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 pounds ground beef
    • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
    • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/2 cup water
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Garlic powder
    • 1 (12-ounce) bottle chili sauce
    • 1 (16-ounce) jar grape jelly


    Instructions


    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

    2. In a medium-size mixing bowl combine the ground beef, eggs, breadcrumbs, and water. Add the salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Mix well. Shape into walnut-size balls. Bake on an ungreased baking pan for 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Drain on paper towels.

    3. In a small saucepan on low heat combine the chili sauce and grape jelly. Bring to a slow boil. Add the cooked meatballs and allow them to simmer for 8 to 10 minutes. Serve hot in a chafing dish.

      Makes about 4 dozen.
