Sauce: Bourbon Barbecue Sauce

- 2 cups ketchup
- ½ cup molasses
- â…“ cup bourbon or other whiskey
- ¼ cup Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 to 3 teaspoons hot pepper sauce, such as Tabasco
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, uncovered and stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and flavors blend, about 20 minutes.
- Cool and season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve at room temperature. The sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 weeks.
