Source of Recipe
From "Big Food Big Love" by Heather Earnhardt
Recipe Introduction
"This sauce has a thick richness to it that will have you reaching for it first. It's great as a glaze for fried chicken, roast chicken, collards, shrimp and grits, or just about anything. Double the batch and give half away to your friends."
List of Ingredients
â—¦ 4 cups Texas Pete or Crystal hot sauce
â—¦ 2 cups packed dark brown sugar
â—¦ 1 (12-ounce) bottle amber beer, such as Abita Amber
â—¦ ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
â—¦ 1 tablespoon dried basil
Recipe
In a large pot over medium-high heat, bring the hot sauce up to a slow boil.
When it's boiling, whisk in the brown sugar, beer, Worcestershire, and basil and reduce the heat to low. Simmer until the sauce is reduced by one-quarter and is thick and viscous, about 2 hours.
Store the cooled sauce in a lidded glass jar in the refrigerator; it will keep indefinitely.
Makes about 4 cups
