Buttery Body Oil

Recipe Introduction
"In addition to being one of the best all-over skin softeners, this blend is excellent as a spot treatment for dry heels, knees, and elbows and makes a perfect nightly cuticle conditioning oil. With its warm, softly spicy, stimulating scent, this oil is recommended for those who don't enjoy overly floral fragrances."
List of Ingredients
â—¦ 6 tablespoons sesame oil
â—¦ 2 tablespoons shea butter (refined or unrefined)
â—¦ 2 capsules 200 IU vitamin E oil
â—¦ 10 drops cardamom essential oil
â—¦ 10 drops ginger essential oil
â—¦ 10 drops sweet orange essential oil
Recipe
In a small saucepan over low heat or in a double boiler, warm the sesame oil and shea butter until the shea butter is just melted. Remove from the heat and gently stir for 1 minute to blend the ingredients, then allow the mixture to cool to body temperature.
Add the vitamin E oil (pierce the capsule skin and squeeze the contents into the mix) and essential oils and stir again. Pour into storage container(s) — plastic squeeze bottles work perfectly — and cap, label, and date.
Because shea butter takes a long time to fully thicken, this formula will need about 24 hours to completely set up. When it's ready, it will be thick and a pale creamy-yellow color. If you've used unrefined shea, your balm will be a hint darker. Unrefined shea butter has a strong scent that will greatly diminish the aroma of the essential oils but not their beneficial properties.

• To Store:
No refrigeration is required, but for maximum freshness and potency, please use within 6 to 12 months. Store in a dark, cool cabinet.
• To Apply:
Immediately following a bath or shower, while your skin is still damp, slather this oil blend on your body — really massage it in. Because it's very concentrated, begin with 1 teaspoon at a time. Use daily or as desired.
