Cocoa: Maple Hot Chocolate
Source of Recipe
From "Maple Syrup Cookbook" by Ken Haedrich
Recipe Introduction
"Properly speaking, hot chocolate is made with melted chocolate and hot cocoa is made with cocoa powder, though many folks use the terms interchangeably. Whatever way you like it, maple makes it more special."
List of Ingredients
â—¦ 1 cup milk, preferably whole
â—¦ 2 ounces (2 squares) semisweet or bittersweet chocolate
â—¦ 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup
â—¦ Whipped cream or marshmallow crème, optional
Recipe
Heat the milk and chocolate in the top of a double boiler over simmering water until the chocolate is melted and well incorporated; do not boil.
Remove from the heat; stir in the maple syrup.
Pour into a mug or two small cups and top with whipped cream, if desired.
Makes 1 large or 2 small servings
