    Carbonated: Lemon-Lime Fizz

    Source of Recipe

    Al Roker

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup water
    • Zest of 1 lemon, removed in wide strips with a vegetable peeler
    • Zest of 1 lime, removed in wide strips with a vegetable peeler
    • 2 liters seltzer, chilled
    • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
    • 3 Tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
    • Ice, for serving
    • Mint sprigs and lemon and lime slices, for garnish

    Instructions

    1. In a small saucepan set over medium heat, combine the water, sugar, and lemon and lime zests. Bring to a boil; lower heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and cool to room temperature. Remove and discard the zest. Cover the syrup and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled (or up to 2 days).

    2. Just before serving: Combine the sugar syrup, seltzer, lemon juice and lime juice in a 3- to 4-quart pitcher.

Serve over ice in tall glasses, and garnish with mint sprigs and lemon and lime slices, if desired.

Makes 2-1/2 quarts, or 10 servings.
