    Tea: Chocolate Chai

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 black tea bag (such as orange pekoe, English breakfast, lapsang souchong, or Darjeeling)
    • 1/2 cup boiling water
    • 3 Tbsp raw sugar or granulated sugar
    • 2 Tbsp unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder
    • 2 cups milk
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
    • Whipped cream
    • Cinnamon sticks


    Instructions


    1. In a small saucepan, pour boiling water over tea bag. Cover and let stand 3 to 5 minutes. Remove tea bag.

    2. Stir the sugar and cocoa into the tea. Cook and stir over medium heat just until mixture comes to boiling. Stir in milk, vanilla, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg; heat through (do not boil).

    3. To serve:
      Pour hot mixture into warm mugs. Top each serving with a spoonful of whipped cream, and add cinnamon stick as a stirrer.

      Makes 2 to 3 servings.
