    Biscuits and Gravy Bake

    Source of Recipe

From "Tasty Ultimate" by Buzzfeed, Inc.

    Recipe Introduction

"Southern comfort has arrived at your doorstep. Premade biscuit dough helps this dish come together quickly. Learn to make gravy here and you'll be all set come Thanksgiving. Dry run complete!"

    List of Ingredients

    Gravy:
    â—¦ 4 tablespoons (½ stick) unsalted butter
    â—¦ ¼ cup all-purpose flour
    â—¦ 2 cups whole milk
â—¦ Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

    â—¦ 1 (12-ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough
â—¦ 2 cups crumbled cooked breakfast sausage (1 pound)
â—¦ 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (8 ounces)
    â—¦ ½ cup whole milk
    â—¦ 6 large eggs
    â—¦ ½ teaspoon kosher salt
â—¦ ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

    Recipe

Preheat the oven to 350° F.

Make the gravy: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer. Cook, stirring, until thickened to the consistency of gravy, about 6 minutes. Season the gravy with salt and pepper.

Meanwhile, open the tube of biscuits and cut each biscuit into eight pieces. Evenly spread the pieces over the bottom of a 9-by-13-inch baking dish (they won't cover the entire bottom of the dish). Distribute the sausage among the biscuit pieces, then sprinkle on the cheese.

Whisk together the milk, eggs, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until smooth. Pour the egg mixture over the biscuit pieces, sausage, and cheese in the baking dish, then drizzle with the gravy.

Bake until the eggs on the bottom of the dish are cooked and the top is golden brown, 35 to 45 minutes. Transfer the dish to a wire rack to cool slightly. Spoon onto plates and serve hot.

    Serves 8 to 10
