Recipe Introduction
"Every year for Christmas, my uncle Austin makes batch upon batch of this homemade granola, and then shares it with his family and friends. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's probably the best granola that you've ever had. He says the secret ingredient is powdered milk, but I believe there's something more powerful involved. When I was working on my first book, Austin told me the most important thing was to have fun while I was writing it. If you are having fun, he said, then those who cook from it will have fun, too. Of course, this philosophy applies to everything in life, and clearly Austin gets great joy out of making granola, which is why his is so delicious. Now, this is the granola you make in March, when your Christmas stash from Uncle Austin has been depleted. While it's not *exactly* his granola, because it wasn't made with his two hands, it's a decent approximation. And if you make it with joy, then chances are it will bring much happiness to others, too."
