    From "Southern Living: Homestyle Cooking"

    List of Ingredients


    • 1¾ cups biscuit mix
    • 1/3 cup cold water
    • 1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
    • ¾ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
    • ½ pound bacon (8 slices), cooked and crumbled
    • 1 large egg, beaten
    • ½ tsp poppy seeds


    Instructions


    1. Combine biscuit mix and water in a medium bowl; stir until a soft dough forms. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead dough 10 times. Roll dough into a 12-inch square.

    2. Spread cream cheese over dough, leaving a ¼-inch border. Sprinkle with cheese and bacon. Roll up dough, pressing firmly to eliminate air pockets; pinch seam to seal. Place dough, seam-side down, on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush dough with egg, and sprinkle with poppy seeds.

    3. Cut slices at 1-inch intervals, but not through, bottom of roll. Bake at 400° F for 30 minutes, or until rolls are golden. Serve warm.

      Makes 4 servings.
