    Crème Brulée French Toast

    Source of Recipe

    From "Creating Comfort"

    List of Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
    • 1 cup packed brown sugar
    • 2 Tbsp corn syrup
    • 1 (8- or 9-inch) round loaf country-style bread or French bread
    • 5 eggs
    • 1-1/2 cups half-and-half
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 tsp Grand Marnier
    • 1/4 tsp salt

    Instructions

    1. Melt the butter with the brown sugar and corn syrup in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Pour into a 9- x 13-inch baking dish. Cut the bread into 1-inch slices and place in a single layer in the prepared dish, squeezing slightly to fit.

    2. Whisk the eggs, half-and-half, vanilla, Grand Marnier, and salt in a bowl. Pour evenly over bread and refrigerate, covered, for 8 to 24 hours.

    3. Preheat the oven to 350° F. Bring the bread mixture to room temperature. Bake, uncovered, for 35 to 40 minutes or until puffed and the edges are golden brown. Serve immediately.

      Makes 6 to 8 servings.
